This year earmarks the 3rd Edition of Swatantryaveer Savarkar Smriti Abhinav Bharat Vyaspeeth Lecture Series. It was organized on 28th & 29th February, 2024. ‘Understanding Interplay between Law and Morality’ was the theme of this lecture series. Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai graced the occasion of Inauguration ceremony of this lecture series as a Chief Guest. On this occasion, Vice President of Governing Body and Council, Deccan Education Society and Chairman of College Development Committee Adv.Ashok Palande, Secretary of Deccan Education Society Shri. Dhananjay Kulkarni, and Principal of Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College Dr. Sunita Adhav were present on the dais. At the outset, Principal of the college delivered a welcome address. Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey addressed the audience through his inaugural speech. He cited illustrations from legal jurisprudence and explained how both notions of law and ethics complement each other. He also gave in-depth guidance on the structure of the Constitution, principle of constitutionalism and its development through judicial interpretations.
Inauguration ceremony was followed by lectures by eminent speakers in the area of law.

Dr. Rohini Honap through her discourse, guided the students as to how law and ethics have changed with the changing times. She also emphasized a need and means of reconciliation of artificial intelligence, clinical trials, human organ transplantation with Constitutional values. Smt. Sonali Shrikhande vividly unfolded the fundamental changes between Bharatiya Naya Samhita and the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Law, as well as how and why the changing concepts of treason and sedation need to be in tune with Constitutional morality. She elucidated the paradigm shift in Indian Criminal Laws. Smt. Neeta Ahir through her lecture dealt with the changing trends in judicial pronouncements in the context of interrelationship between law and morality. Whereas, Shri. Sandeep Borse deliberated upon the sociological perspectives of law and morality in Indian Society.

The said lecture series was extremely insightful and conversant for students to understand the Interplay between Law and Morality with contemporary significance. The lecture series was anchored by Dr. Anagha Baldota & successfully co-ordinated by Dr. Priya Chopde, Vice Principal, DES’ Shri. Nacvalmal Firodia Law College.
