The legal aid department operated with enthusiasm and  zeal of hard work where the student volunteers actively responded for the legal aid work. The year started with the interaction with the students as to working of legal aid department as a Centre dispensing free legal aid to the common class.

This year we participation of students actively involving in various activities such as role play, interactions, and working for Lok Adalats.

The college this year actively presented a Role Play “- ‘Madyasti वादपूर्वी आणि वादानंतर, which depicted the pre litigation meditation and mediation between the parties. The mediation process useful for the settlement of dispute where there is a chance of settlement of dispute between the parties and if the settlement not arrive the parties are free to resort for the adjudication of the Dispute before the Traditional Courts. If there is chance of settlement the  traditional Courts  also refer the matter for settlement through medium of mediation which is a structural process in dispute resolving.”- a Role play on Importance Of Mediation at the Mediation Conference organized by The National Legal Services Authority, India in association with the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, Mumbai and  the Pune District Legal Service Authority at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch On 14 th October2023. Dinesh Surana (Member Secretary MLSA Director And Co-Ordinator MMC), Shri. Shyam Chandak (Principal District Judge, Pune and Chairman  District Legal Service Authority, Pune).

 

From July 2023 to October 2023, the college actively participated in the Second Prof. V.S. Mallar Memorial Legal Aid Competition, which was hosted by the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bangalore. During this time, students engaged in a variety of activities, including working in prison clinics, organizing and assisting in Lok Adalat, engaging with street vendors, providing speed mentoring to school students, and partnering with non-profit organizations to educate children about legal literacy and cyber safety. The college was recognized for its efforts in this program. The students work hard on a variety of projects to raise legal knowledge among the younger generation and general public.

As part of the college's participation in the District Legal Service Authority Of Pune, it had the chance to engage with litigants over a range of cases presented before the Lok Adalats which were conducted on 9th September 2023, 9th December 2023 and 3rd March 2024 where students assisted in drafting the notices to the defaulter in motor vehicle act as well as the assistance in conducting the cases during Lok Adalat. The students had the chance to observe and to take part in  negotiations between parties and their advocates as volunteers. This allowed them to cultivate their communication, negotiation and social networking skills. The students also acquired knowledge of the ethical considerations relevant to Lok Adalat proceedings, such as confidentiality, impartiality, and neutralityTimely working and coordination is done by various student volunteers for smooth functioning of the Lok Adalat. 

Our  student’s Rohan Dive, Aditya Kokane , Vedant Kalgavkar and Digambar Joshi  1st LL.B actively rendered assistance and were specially appreciated by KHED POLICE STATION for their tireless work at Lok Adalat on 3rd march 2024  and provided them with assistance in comprehending the cases and current legal issues under the Motor Vehicle Act and help in resolving the cases under its jurisdiction.

The college also actively participated in Dakshata Jan-Jagruti Saptaha organised by the  District Legal Service Authority, Pune on 4th November 2023, in an effort to raise awareness of anti-corruption movements where the student volunterred and participated in a rally organised by Pune District and Sessions Court compound.

The college also had organised one day legal aid camp at One day Free Legal Aid Camp at  village Bare Khrud; Tal Bhor on 13th December 2023, where the students of 1st LL.B, 2nd BA.LL.B and 1st BBA.LL.B  actively participated in the programme and created awareness by interacting with villagers  on various topics  Property rights –Crop Insurance  drafting  of Will , Domestic Violence – and Women health care –Filing of cases and banking awareness. The programme was a success where the students presented a role play on the topic of mediation and its essential in dispute resolution which was appreciated and acknowledge by all.

 The college also actively engaged in One- Day interaction with women’s  on the eve of Celebration of Women’s Day with the Self Help Group at Patil Wasti (Slum Area )Aundh Road on 11th March 2024, A Interactive Session was Organised on 11th March 2024 as to the celebrating the women’s day where Student Volunteers visited Patil Padal Wasti (Slum Area) Aundh Road near Spicer college. The group of ladies present were enlightened as to Save Girl Child Programme, The Rights of Women’s in Property as well as various Health Schemes for ladies and the availment from the ward office where and approach to the authorities.  

This year the college participated at various street play Competition and has  won 3rd Prize in the Jagruti karandak organised by Shankarrao Chavan Law College, Pune on 18th March 2023.

Throughout the academic year, the college effectively provided legal aid support in seven instances that were brought to the center by individuals who actively engaged in the legal aid program.

At Last a special thanks to the students who played active role in promotion of Legal Aid are: Sneha Gund (4th BA.LL.B,) Aryan Jadhav, (4th BA.LL.B,) Rahul Raut (1st LL.B) Chetan wagh (1st LL.B)  Gargee Tendulkar(1st LL.B) and Gaurav Chavan(1st LL.B) ;  Harshada(1st LL.B);  Yashshri Mali(1st LL.B) Amey Joshi, Aryan and team 1st BBA.LL.B Ketki Patil  and Arya Rajbhosle 5th BA.LL.B, Shivtej Satpute 4th BA.LL.B , Adesh Chikte 3rd LLB , Kalyani Satpute 4th BA.LL.B  , Dhananjay Gaud 3rd LL.B and other students volunteers who played active  role in promotion of legal aid.
